Belgium fined for delay in adopting EU broadband directive

Belgium must pay a daily fine of EUR 5,000 for failure to transpose fully and notify the European Commission of its adoption of the directive on supporting the roll-out of broadband networks. The Commission took the country to the Court of Justice in Luxembourg, as Belgium, and in particular the Brussels Capital region, still has not fully implemented the directive, after a deadline of 01 January 2016.

De nieuwe strategie is het antwoord van Proximus op het gestage verlies aan marktaandeel op de totale Belgische telecommarkt aan challenger Orange, zo blijkt uit onderzoek van Telecompaper.

Proximus looks to shore up market share with new brand strategy, TV services

Proximus had a 44.0 percent share of service revenues on the Belgian telecom market in Q1 2019. Its share was down 0.9 percent points from a year earlier, while Orange Belgium grew its share by the same amount to 15.3 percent of revenues. Telenet, Proximus' main rival in the past, was stable at 30.5 percent of the market.
