The Dutch over-the-top (OTT) video market generated revenues of EUR 251 million in the third quarter of 2023, an increase of 22.5 percent from the year before, according to Telecompaper's Dutch TV video market report. Netflix was the largest provider, with a market share of 39.5 percent, followed by Viaplay, Disney+ and Videoland.

Netflix and Videoland are the biggest players on the Dutch streaming market in terms of customer numbers, while Netflix and Viaplay are the largest in revenue terms. Disney+ just overtook Videoland for third place in Q3 2023, according to the latest edition of Telecompaper's Dutch TV-Video report.

De televisiemarkt in Nederland is in het derde kwartaal van 2023 teruggekeerd naar groei, nadat er een aantal kwartalen een daling werd opgetekend, aldus het meest recente onderzoek van Telecompaper. Terwijl het aantal abonnees blijft afnemen, zorgden prijsverhogingen als gevolg van inflatie ervoor dat bij de meeste tv-aanbieders de marktomzet steeg. Telecompaper verwacht dat vanaf Q4 2023 ook de groei op de streamingmarkt zal versnellen, nadat verschillende streamingdiensten de afgelopen maanden de prijzen

Dutch pay-TV revenues bounce back in Q3 but Netflix already bigger than cable

The pay-TV market in the Netherlands returned to growth in the third quarter of 2023, after several quarters of decline, according to the latest research from Telecompaper. While subscriber numbers continue to fall, price increases at most TV providers due to inflation helped the market revenues increase. Telecompaper expects growth on the streaming market to accelerate also from Q4 2023, after several streaming services raised prices in recent months.
