Nokia’s Ovi may threaten operators’ revenues
Nokia plans to reposition itself as a software and services company rather than a just a hardware manufacturer. The announcement of the new Ovi internet services is part of Nokia’s shift in strategy to move into the mobile content and services market. However, Nokia's move may not be welcomed by all mobile operators as Nokia is moving upwards in the content value chain were operators would like to keep a strong position. Mobile operators have to choose their position in the content value chain in order to make profit and defend their content revenues.
