Russian mobile operator T2, a subsidiary of Rostelecom, has implemented an eSIM profile on all versions of the electric car Atom from Russian automotive company Kama, reports Tass. Information about the car and its services is transferred over a secure connection on the mobile network, and customers can access online services such as navigation, music, video and other digital services on the car's multi-media platform.

O2 Slovakia has introduced its new service O2 Connect for customers looking to connect multiple devices. Three types of  O2 postpaid plan support the new offer, and the Sims can be ordered and activated on the O2 app.

Orange Poland said that its CERT blocked 345,000 phishing internet domains in 2025, and some 5.5 million customers trying to access the domains were protected from possible loses of data and money. Disney has signed a content licensing agreement with Italian public broadcaster Rai to air a selection of the latter's content on Disney+ the day after their TV debut. The deal is the latest of several Disney partnerships with European free-to-air broadcasters, including ones with RTVE and Atresmedia in Spain, Germany's ZDF and ARD, Britain's ITV and Portugal's SIC.

Telefonica Germany improves mobile coverage with 2,000 expansion measures in Q1

Telefonica Germany said it has implemented 2,000 expansion measures in the first quarter of this year to improve its mobile network coverage. This represents a 25 percent increase in terms of expansion activities year-on-year. Telefonica is focusing on improving coverage in previously under-served regions, along rail lines and roads, and on boosting network performance. The operator also activated more than 600 new 5G sites to reach around 99 perfect of the population in Germany with 5G.

Portuguese rights group sees signs of progress in fight against digital piracy

There were 1.29 billion visits to piracy websites in Portugal between April 2024 and March 2025, according to a report from FEVIP, the Portuguese Association for the Defence of Audiovisual Works. Despite this high volume, a slight reduction from the previous year suggests that prevention and blocking measures are proving effective in limiting the availability of illegal content, the group said. Authorities blocked approximately 182 million illegal content instances in 2025.

Drone targets Thuraya building in Sharjah

The UAE's Sharjah Government announced that local authorities responded to an incident on 30 March involving the targeting of the Thuraya Communications administrative building in the central region by a drone launched from Iran. The media office said in its official account on X that no injuries were reported, noting that relevant authorities are actively managing the situation. The media office assured the public that updates will be provided as soon as available.

SpaceLocker launches 'Out of the Box' cubesat carrying five client payloads

French start-up SpaceLocker announced the successful launch into orbit of its first satellite on a SpaceX mission. Named 'Out of the Box', this 16U cubesat of approximately 20 kg carries five client payloads. Among them, the 'Sterna' computer built by EDGX will start operating in space as an edge computing platform powered by Nvidia.

Uniti Fiber has hired Heather Orrico as president of Enterprise Sales. She comes from Comcast, where she spent 13 years and was most recently VP for its Texas region. With more than 20 years in telecommunications, Orrico brings experience across engineering, operations, and sales, including work with competitive carriers, incumbent providers, and multiple system operators.

Vivo sees broadband as major growth driver

Vivo has transformed into an internet and digital services company, with less than 5 percent of its revenue now coming from traditional telephony, CEO Christian Gebara said. Speaking to Brazilian daily Valor Economico, he said the company sees broadband as the primary area for future consolidation in the sector.

Jordanian fixed voice subscriptions drops 2% in Q4, mobile broadband subscriptions rise 6%

The total number of subscribers to fixed voice telecommunications services in Jordan declined by 1.8 percent year-on-year to 4.77 million in the fourth quarter of 2025 from 4.86 million in Q4 2024, according to from Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC). It says that the residential sector accounted for 67 percent of the total and the commercial sector for the other. The report also shows that the total number of mobile broadband subscriptions rose by 5.7 percent to 8.5 million from 8.04 million.

AAC Clyde, Spire Global launch Glasgow-built satellites with UK, European agency support

Three satellites built in Scotland have launched on SpaceX's Transporter-16 launch vehicle, after receiving UK Space Agency (UKSA) funding via the European Space Agency's ARTES Pioneer Programme. Two of the satellites were developed by Glasgow-based AAC Clyde Space, while the other satellite was launched by space economy and data specialist Spire Global.
