5G dreams still a long way off

The recent launches of the first 5G services in the US and Korea suggest the next generation of mobile networks is finally becoming reality. However, full 5G networks and their promised services of connected car and transport networks or fully automated factories run by robots and sensors are likely many years off still, according to participants at the recent European 5G Conference in Brussels. Both the required spectrum and standards are taking longer than planned, and many mobile operators and industry verticals are hesitant to invest fully in 5G before a clear business case and regulatory
