Boost for mobile payments in Germany

Several recent initiatives in Germany could provide a boost for mobile payments in that country. German retailers Media Markt and Saturn (both belonging to the Metro Group), are introducing NFC terminals in their shops, while the three MNOs have teamed up with six retail groups to update their terminals to NFC enabled terminals. Although they are separate initiatives, together they could make the German consumer more familiar with mobile payments and so gradually lead to more acceptance and usage.
