E-Plus embraces OTT as value added services

Monday 23 June 2014 | 10:57 CET | Author: Kamiel Albrecht | Background
KPN's German mobile subsidiary E-Plus has been active in partnering with OTT service providers during the past months. Instead bemoaning the loss of revenues, the operator partnered with Whatsapp to launch the world's first mobile service for Whatsapp use and signed partner agreements with Vivendi's SVOD service provider Watchever and European web-TV service provider Zattoo. Although the latter agreements are more marketing deals offering a discount to customers of Base, E-Plus's major brand, the trend is clear, E-Plus sees OTT as value adding to its mobile tariffs.
