German cable consolidation hits snag, Vodafone to the rescue?

Germany's largest cable operator Kabel Deutschland has abandoned its quest to acquire the smaller cable operator Tele Columbus after the Federal Cartel Office said more conditions were needed to approve the acquisition. Around the same time it emerged that Vodafone could be interested in acquiring Kabel Deutschland to strengthen its fixed network assets in Germany.
