Last week in telecoms: Iliad, fibre drive push for consolidation, with Poland in focus

European consolidation was in the news last week, with Iliad positioning itself to pick up assets for sale. Since VodafoneZiggo lost the rights to Formula 1, it's working on acquiring new licences. Viaplay is the new owner and is launching in Poland in August. It has made distribution agreements with several cable operators there, including UPC Poland, and Ziggo may be looking to do the same.
