Last week in telecoms: Q2 results recover from Covid and new streaming services accelerate as Netflix slows

The first round of Q2 financial results in the past week shows a bounce back from the initial negative effects of Covid-19 a year ago. With flattering year-on-year comparisons, operators like Verizon, Vodafone and Telenor showed improving results and some even raised their full-year forecasts. The social media companies Snap and Twitter also are doing better as 'normal' business resumes, but Netflix was punished for a slowdown in growth. On the regulatory front, Spain held a quick 5G auction, TikTok got another fine for privacy violations, and iPhone security is in question again following
