Liberty Global focuses on Europe, what's the next move?

Tuesday 28 January 2014 | 15:53 CET | Author: Kamiel Albrecht | Background
Liberty Global International (LGI) wants to spin off its Chilean subsidiary VTR and announced it has made a friendly offer to acquire Dutch cable operator Ziggo. Following approval from regulators and shareholders, Ziggo will be merged with Liberty Global's subsidiary UPC Netherlands. LGI already owns cable networks in Germany, the UK, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Ireland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The operator's renewed focus on Europe is underlined by the news of its plans in Chile and the Netherlands.
