Netflix and Disney take opposite directions in OTT market, while Amazon and TV operators become super aggregators

The streaming video industry is not taking any vacation this summer judging by the flurry of announcements in recent days. While the traditional players - the content producers and pay-TV providers - have long given Netflix free rein to expand around the world, they are now starting to sit up and get active. Producers such as Disney are getting into the distribution business and going straight to consumers, while Netflix is developing in the opposite direction with more and more of its own original productions. Meanwhile Amazon and the TV providers, if they adopt the role of 'super
