Nokia will play a role in the development of 5G

Even though 4G development is far from completed, the industry is already discussing 5G. That standard will not replace 4G, but complement it by adding capacity at higher frequency bands. Nokia predicts that demand for bandwidth will continue beyond 2020, particularly for ultra-low latency services. "The development process is still very early days, says Lauri Oksanen, Vice President Research & Technology – Technology and Innovation with Nokia. The standardization process should start in earnest in two years' time.
