Samsung takes the first step with iris scan for mobile payment

Friday 5 August 2016 | 16:28 CET | Author: Bart Garvelink | Background
Samsung has introduced an iris scanner in the new Galaxy Note 7. This iris scanner can be used to unlock the device, but authentication for payments currently seems a step too far. For that to happen, the banks and card networks must certify the technology. In addition, the technology is not yet sufficiently mature and the user experience is not good enough. Samsung Pay also comes to the Netherlands, but the question is whether the iris scanner will have a role to play.
