Self-driving car market still 10 years away

Thursday 29 December 2016 | 14:55 CET | Author: Bart Garvelink | Background
The number of autonomous vehicles on the road is expected to grow steadily in the period to 2025, according to a recent report from Canalys. By then around 15 percent of vehicles sold should be able to operate without a driver. Autonomous driving is developing in five stages, from level 0 with no autonomy to level 4 with complete autonomy. The deployment of intermediary systems is gaining pace among the premium carmakers and is gradually reaching lower price classes. However, it will be at least ten years before the market is in full commercial swing.
