Structural separation may become reality in UK

The UK is one of the most dynamic telecom markets at the moment. BT is returning to the mobile market with the takeover of EE, 3 UK is acquiring O2, Virgin Media is expanding its network and a number of specialised companies are rolling out their own FTTH networks. Regulator Ofcom is preparing a new, broad market analysis, the first phase of which should be completed this summer. Sky, TalkTalk and Vodafone are calling for a structural separation of BT amid fears it is amassing too much market power and is insufficiently open to competitors on its network. BT has countered this latter
