UPC customers expect better offer after Ziggo merger

Wednesday 9 July 2014 | 16:04 CET | Author: Monique van Camerijk | Background
The European Commission is investigating the proposed takeover of Dutch cable operator Ziggo by Liberty Global, which also owns the UPC network in the Netherlands. The EC is concerned the merger of Ziggo and UPC could have negative consequences for competition, and consumers could suffer from the creation of a duopoly between Ziggo/UPC and KPN. Telecompaper asked around 1,100 consumers if they expect any negative impact from the merger. The survey found that UPC customers are somewhat more positive about the deal than Ziggo subscribers.
