UPC has every reason to consider a merger with Ziggo

UPC Netherlands had a remarkably weak third quarter in financial terms, while from a customer perspective, the company is doing a bit better. Revenues were down a record 4.0 percent. This would suggest the cost of sales fell as well, but these were actually up 7.4 percent. Costs for the network, customer care and content appear to be rising quickly. SG&A costs fell slightly, and with the recently announced job cuts, the company seems to be looking to reduce this post further. EBITDA was down almost 10 percent.
