Vodafone can finance Liberty Global bid with sale of non-Europe activities

Friday 15 May 2015 | 09:44 CET | Author: Tim Poulus | Background
Media reports continue to speculate of a possible merger between Vodafone and cable operator Liberty Global. Vodafone's sale of its stake in Verizon Wireless and its continued expansion through acquisitions on the fixed market appear to support the strategy. A sale of Vodafone's activities outside Europe could help finance a bid for Liberty Global. Its subsidiaries in Africa, India and elsewhere could be worth around GBP 30 billion. On paper, the two companies are highly complementary.
