Belgian publisher De Persgroep is interested in acquiring mobile operator Base, also known as KPN Belgium, local paper De Tijd reported. Others reportedly interested in Base, which KPN recently put up for sale, are reportedly Telenet (Liberty Global), Xavier Niel (owner of France's Iliad/Free), Naguib Sawiris (former owner of Wind), BT Group and various private equity firms. De Persgroep may be preparing a bid with Roularta and private equity players. It is already active on the mobile market through the MVNO Jim Mobile, which uses the Base network.
