3 Austria fails to suspend LTE auction payment
Mobile operator Hutchison Drei Austria (3 Austria) must pay EUR 330 million due for LTE frequencies by Christmas after the Administrative Court ruled that there was no reason to suspend the payment, APA reports. The Court was not convinced by arguments that it would be severely disadvantaged by the auction process.

The reduction in mobile termination rates in Austria in November 2013 led to a 6.2 percent drop in mobile service revenues during the fourth quarter of 2013. Compared to Q4 2012, mobile service revenues fell 12.2 percent, to EUR 587 million. Hutchison Drei Austria (3 Austria) has announced the appointment of Roland Horacek as Head of Own Retail. In this post, he is responsible for over 90 shops operated by the company. T-Mobile Austria confirmed that the country's highest administrative court has rejected it request for a preliminary injunction against the result of the recent mobile spectrum auction. As a result, the company will pay its spectrum licence fee of around EUR 654 million on 17 December.

Telekom Austria will not appeal mobile spectrum auction

Telekom Austria will not file an appeal against the recent mobile spectrum auction. Company spokesperson Peter Schiefer told Austrian newspaper 'Die Presse' that it had decided not to appeal so as not to threaten the roll-out of its LTE network. Rivals T-Mobile Austria and 3 Austria have both confirmed their plans to appeal.
