5G rollout in Europe could drastically cut carbon dioxide emissions, but region is lagging - Ericsson

A study by Ericsson reveals that the use of 5G across four key sectors in Europe could drastically cut the emission of CO2. Implementing 5G technology in the power, transport, manufacturing and buildings sectors could create 55-170 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e) of emissions savings per year, or the same as removing 35 million petrol cars (1 in 7) from EU roads. The study also warns of a lagging Europe.
