5G smartphones to account for 25% of total smartphone shipments by 2023

Global 5G smartphones are estimated to account for 25 percent of the total smartphone shipments by 2023, reaching 434.7 million units, up from 4.6 million units in 2019, according to Taipei-based government-backed research institute MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute). Three major factors are expected to lead to a significant increase in 5G smartphones in 2020. First is the availability of 5G SoC products which cover a wide range of product lines from flagship to mid-range and high-end products. Second is the 5G commercialisation in China and Japan. Last is the Apple-Qualcomm
