5GIC claims first with virtualised 5G architecture demo

The 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) at the University of Surrey announced the world's first full demonstration of 5G core virtualised network architecture. It said the LTE-A trial pointed to a significant reduction in deployment, optimisation and upgrade costs for network operators using the new standard, expected to launch in 2020.
