80% of EU internet users went online via mobile in 2016

More than 80 percent of persons aged 16 to 74 in the European Union (EU) used the internet in 2016, in many cases via several different devices, according to a study by Eurostat. Mobile phones or smart phones were the devices most used to surf the internet, with over three-quarters (79 percent) of internet users doing so. They were followed by laptops or netbooks (64 percent), desktop computers (54 percent) and tablet computers (44 percent).
