83% of Germans use OTT communication services - survey

About 83 percent of Germans regularly used OTT communication services provided via internet, in particular when using smartphones, according to a survey of the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) performed at the end of 2019  in cooperation with Info. Almost all (98%) of service users are aged 16-24. WhatsApp is the most frequently used service at 96 percent, followed by Facebook Messenger with 42 percent, Instagram (30%), Skype (18%) and Snapchat (12%). Many users use at least two different OTT communication services in parallel. This means that almost two thirds of the respondents
