A1 introduces speech recognition hotline

Austrian operator A1 has introduced a new form of customer care hotline navigation. Instead of making a choice by pressing a key, the hotline menu navigation will now be based on speech recognition. Five hundred announcements have been recorded into the system and they can recognise more than 1,500 words and phrases that can identify the client's issue and offer a solution. In cases where the speech recognition system does not recognise a word, a human consultant takes over the conversation. The service hotline of A1 receives more than 20,000 calls a day.
