ABM Amro launches P2P payments app

Thursday 23 June 2016 | 10:40 CET | News
Dutch bank ABN Amro has launched the app Tikkie, for consumers to make free peer-to-peer payments. Users can make a payment request to contacts listed in WhatsApp. The contact then receives a link over WhatsApp to make the payment over the online banking system iDeal. Customers don't need to load credit on Tikkie, as all payments go over their standard bank account through iDeal. The app is available to any Dutch consumer over 18 with a bank account, regardless of whether they use ABN Amro. ING launched a similar app earlier this year, called Twyp.
