Academic study says Google skews search results

Google could be skewing search results to favour its own services, according to new research by two prominent US academics, the Wall Street Journal reported. The study was conducted by Michael Luca of the Harvard Business School and Tim Wu of Columbia Law School for Yelp, which has filed a complaint with EU antritrust authorities over Google's search practices. The study was present to EU regulators on 26 June. EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager formally charged Google in April with skewing results to favour its comparison-shopping service, escalating a five-year investigation. At issue is
