Accenture to buy Symantec Cyber Security Services from Broadcom

Broadcom has agreed to sell part of the activities acquired from Symantec to Accenture. The consulting film will buy Symantec’s Cyber Security Services business for an undisclosed sum.

Symantec’s Cyber Security Services includes global threat monitoring and analysis through a network of security operation centres, real-time adversary and industry-specific threat intelligence and incident response services. The six security operations centres are located in the US, the UK, India, Australia, Singapore and Japan. Its managed security services business is supported by a proprietary cloud-based platform that delivers a steady stream of technical and cyber adversary threat intelligence through a customizable portal.

The deal is expected to strengthen Accenture Security and its ability to offer managed services to global businesses. This follows the earlier acquisitions of Deja vu Security, iDefense, Maglan, Redcore, Arismore and FusionX to build out the high-growth business.

Around 300 employees will transfer to Accenture as part of the takeover. Completion of the acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in March.
