The amount of 06 mobile numbers in the Netherlands is not expected to run out soon, according to latest numbering report from regulator ACM. While 91 percent of the available numbers are issued to operators, around 35 percent of these are not in use, the ACM said.

It also found that while fewer people are using fixed lines, the number of geographic numbers issued is increasing. This is due to more players using geographic numbers to offer business telephony services over the internet. Nevertheless, the ACM does not expect any shortage in geographic numbers. The areas with the highest share of numbers in issue are Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague, with around 70 percent of numbers with the local prefixes in issue.
