African smartphone market shipments fall 6% in Q2 as Covid-19 bites

African mobile phone shipments declined 6.0 percent quarter on quarter (QoQ) in Q2, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). The African smartphone market was roughly flat with just 0.1 percent growth QoQ, and feature phone shipments declined 10.6 percent. The impact of Covid-19 on smartphone shipments has been felt differently across the region, IDC said.
