AFTIC to deprive Nextel of spectrum after Clarin buy -report

Tuesday 22 September 2015 | 14:41 CET | News
Argentina's federal telecommunications regulator AFTIC will seek to deprive Nextel of frequencies in the 800 MHz and 470 MHz bands as a way of neutralising its acquisition by media conglomerate Clarin, reports local daily La Nacion. The regulator will argue that the operator's frequency licences have expired in what is the latest move by the government to block Clarin's USD 178 million deal to acquire a 49 percent stake in Nextel Argentina. In addition, Argentina's media watchdog AFSCA has followed AFTIC in describing the takeover as illegal.
