AGCM to probe TIM, Vodafone, Wind Tre foreign IBAN discrimination

Wednesday 8 January 2020 | 09:16 CET | News
Italian antitrust watchdog AGCM has launched a new investigation into the billing practices of Telecom Italia (TIM), Wind Tre and Vodafone Italia, who are accused of failing to allow customers to pay for their fixed or mobile contract by means of a foreign current account. Under EU regulations, the operators are required to give customers the possibility of domiciling their monthly bills in European banks in the SEPA area. The watchdog previously imposed a penalty of EUR 800,000 on Vodafone and Wind Tre on the same grounds in April 2019 and ordered TIM to respect the rules.
