Agcom commissioner to recommend new fund for Italy's underserved areas

Friday 21 July 2017 | 09:45 CET | News
Agcom commissioner Antonio Nicita will put forward a proposal for a new fund, targeted specifically at underserved "white" areas of Italy, which will be used to assist broadband infrastructure operators against "opportunistic" competition, reports Corriere delle Comunicazioni. The solution would follow a similar model to what is already permitted by EU regulation in sectors such as the postal service, making it possible to compensate companies offering universal services from lost revenues caused by market liberalization.
