Airtel Faso fixed wireless shortens Onatel's landline queues

Airtel Burkina Faso is using fixed wireless to sign up customers waiting for monopoly fixed-line operator Onatel to install their line. According to government statistics, the country's fixed phone subscribers fell to 133,421 in September 2014 from 141,529 in 2011. The operator is selling a wireless phone that communicates with two antennas, one for voice and the other for internet access over the 3G network, as well as playing radio stations.
