Airtel, Reliance Jio agree infrastructure sharing
Indian telecommunications providers Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio Infocomm have signed a comprehensive telecom infrastructure sharing arrangement. The deal includes fibre networks, submarine cable networks, towers, and internet broadband services. The arrangement could, in future, be extended to roaming on 2G, 3G and 4G. The pricing would be at "arm's length", based on prevailing market rates. As part of this arrangement, Bharti and Reliance Jio have already announced an agreement under which Bharti has provided capacity on its i2i submarine cable to Reliance Jio.

Reliance Jio strikes tower sharing deal with BSNL

Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed a tower sharing agreement with Indian state-run operator BSNL. Under the terms of the deal, BSNL will lease around 4,000 mobile towers to Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio inks tower-sharing deal with Tower Vision

Indian operator Reliance Jio has signed a tower-sharing agreement with Tower Vision. Under the terms of the agreement, Reliance Jio will use Tower Vision's telecom tower infrastructure to launch its services across the country. Tower Vision has a portfolio of 8,400 towers in India.

Reliance Jio signs tower-sharing deal with Infratel

Indian operators Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti Infratel have signed a Master Services Agreement. Under the agreement, Reliance Jio will have access to the telecom tower infrastructure of Bharti Infratel to launch its services across the country. Reliance Jio earlier signed an infrastructure-sharing agreement with Bharti Airtel, Infratel's largest shareholder. The new deal gives the company access to Infratel's wider footprint with other operators.

Reliance Jio to launch 4G services in September

Indian communications provider Reliance Jio Infocomm expects to launch 4G services by September this year. The company, which is building up its telecommunications team, expects services to be launched in the third quarter, starting in Delhi and Mumbai, PTI writes citing an unnamed source close to the development. Airtel quarterly revenues up 13%, profit more than doubles

Bharti Airtel reported fourth-quarter revenues up 13 percent from a year earlier to INR 219.4 billion. EBITDA rose 23 percent to INR 70.9 billion, and net profit more than doubled, to INR 6.1 billion from INR 2.8 billion a year ago. CAG castigates DoT for BWA loophole

India's Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has castigated the Department of Telecom (DoT) for loopholes that allowed Reliance Jio Infocomm to acquire national BWA spectrum without participating in an auction. Reliance Jio bought Infotel Broadband Services in June 2010, immediately after the latter had won BWA spectrum for around INR 127.50 billion. The BWA spectrum sale did not require a lock-in period for winners. CAG says Reliance Jio made a gain of INR 48 billion at the cost of the public exchequer.

Airtel set to launch LTE voice service in Bengaluru

Indian operator Bharti Airtel is set to launch voice call facilities on its LTE network in Bengaluru this month, reports The Economic Times. Bharti Airtel has raised EUR 750 million through a bond issue. The communications provider issued EUR 750 million in five-year bonds with a coupon of 4.0 percent. The issue was more than five times oversusbscribed. Bharti will use the net proceeds to refinance its existing debt.
