Reliance Jio signs tower-sharing deal with Infratel
Indian operators Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti Infratel have signed a Master Services Agreement. Under the agreement, Reliance Jio will have access to the telecom tower infrastructure of Bharti Infratel to launch its services across the country. Reliance Jio earlier signed an infrastructure-sharing agreement with Bharti Airtel, Infratel's largest shareholder. The new deal gives the company access to Infratel's wider footprint with other operators.

Reliance Jio strikes tower sharing deal with BSNL

Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed a tower sharing agreement with Indian state-run operator BSNL. Under the terms of the deal, BSNL will lease around 4,000 mobile towers to Reliance Jio. BSNL will offer these towers at a base rate of INR 38,000 per month for ground-based towers and INR 24,900 per month for rooftop based towers. Airtel sells Infratel stake for USD 350 million

Indian mobile telephony operator Bharti Airtel has raised around INR 21.4 billion (approximately USD 349.6 million) from a share sale in its unit Bharti Infratel. Via this move, Airtel sought to comply with a rule that requires listed companies to have a minimum 25 percent public shareholding. Before the sale, Airtel held a 79.4 percent stake in its mobile tower unit Bharti Infratel. Airtel sold a 4.5 percent Infratel stake on the open market.

Reliance Jio inks tower-sharing deal with Tower Vision

Indian operator Reliance Jio has signed a tower-sharing agreement with Tower Vision. Under the terms of the agreement, Reliance Jio will use Tower Vision's telecom tower infrastructure to launch its services across the country. Tower Vision has a portfolio of 8,400 towers in India.

Bharti Infratel's Q4 profit grows 64%

Bharti Infratel, the mobile tower unit of Indian operator Bharti Airtel, posted a net profit for the fourth quarter ended 31 March of INR 4.72 billion, up 64 percent year-on-year. Revues grew 4 percent to INR 27.90 billion and EBITDA was up 16 percent year-on-year to INR 11.60 billion. Bharti Infratel's tower base stood at 83,368 towers with 167,202 co-locations.

Reliance Jio embarks on hiring spree - report

Indian communications provider Reliance Jio Infocomm plans to hire as many over 300 telecommunications professionals in the next few months as it is ramping up to roll out services. A source familiar with the matter told the Economic Times the company will hire around 300 professionals for senior roles. Reliance Jio to use RCom's intra-city fibre links

Indian communications provider Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed an agreement with Reliance Communications on using the latter's city fibre links. The agreement is based on arm's length pricing at prevailing market prices, the company said. Reliance Jio will use the intra-city fibre networks to speed up its 4G rollout. The two companies earlier signed agreements to share inter-city fibre links and telecom towers.

India's Income tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) has told the tax department to take off INR 57.39 billion from Bharti Airtel's taxable income, TNN reports. The company had incurred the amount as a loss on the transfer of infrastructure to Bharti Infratel. It was a capital loss and was not claimed by the company as a deduction in its tax return for the assessment year 2008-09. Reliance Jio asks for spectrum reshuffle

Indian communications operator Reliance Jio Infocomm has asked the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to reshuffle some of the 1,800 MHz spectrum it won recently to form a contiguous block of spectrum.
