Akamai, Sony working with customers to eliminate traffic bottlenecks, also for gamers

Akamai said it has been working with customers during the coronavirus outbreak to help them maintain business continuity. The company said its infrastructure, present deep in carrier networks, can help them avoid overloads by diverting traffic away from areas experiencing high levels of congestion. For gamers in particular, the company has been working with Microsoft, Sony and other software specialists to help manage congestion during peak usage periods. Akamai noted that gaming software downloads can account for large amounts of internet traffic when an update is released: a software update
