Albert Heijn developing mobile payment for AH to Go

Thursday 21 December 2017 | 09:50 CET | News
Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn is developing an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system that would allow customers to quickly scan their goods and pay for them. The payment method is now being tested in the AH to Go concept store at the head office in Zaandam and will be introduced in 2018 in all AH to Go stores. All price tags on the shelf will get an electronic price label, which will send the amount via RFID. Visitors will then be able to take an article and scan the price label, with the amount added automatically.
