Alcatel-Lucent launches simplified radio interface

Alcatel-Lucent announced the launch of a new LTE interface card for distributed antenna systems (DAS), which the company claims will cut power consumption, space and operational costs by as much as 90 percent when connecting subscribers at large public venues. The DAS Radio Frequency Module (DAS RFM) connects to Alcatel-Lucent's digital baseband units and, according to the company, removes the need for bulky radio technology in a public installation.
