Alcatel-Lucent to expand capacity of Telefonica's IP network

Wednesday 19 August 2015 | 11:10 CET | News
Alcatel-Lucent has signed a deal to expand the capacity of Telefonica's fixed and mobile networks with its IP routing technologies to meet ever-increasing customer data demands. The three-year project will see Alcatel-Lucent collapse the traditional eight network layers into only four. Residential and business services will converge on a single network, enabling Telefonica to use network capacity more efficiently and optimise data and video delivery, said Alcatel-Lucent, adding that the simplified network design will in turn allow the operator to offer advanced services in the future.
