Alcatel-Lucent to scrap 280 jobs in Belgium

Alcatel-Lucent is looking to reduce its workforce in Belgium by 280, DataNews reported. The statement was made during a meeting of the Belgian Central Works Council. The company had earlier said it would seek to scrap 290 jobs in the country, as part of an international drive to eliminate 5490 jobs. Alcatel-Lucent employs 1,677 people in Belgium, namely in Antwerp and Namur.
