Alcatel may sell submarine, enterprise units - report

Alcatel-Lucent is considering divesting its undersea cable and corporate telephony operations to shore up its finances after reporting more losses in the third quarter, people familiar with the matter told Reuters. The two activities were put under the direction of CFO Paul Tufano in September, a move seen as a precursor to a sale. The company said it was studying options, with CEO Ben Verwaayen telling the Financial Times that it was too early to say which assets would be sold.
