Alcatel Onetouch introduces Go smartphone, watch

Alcatel Onetouch has released at the IFA show in Berlin the new Go Play series of colourful, durable smartphones aimed at young people. The Android phones are shockproof, waterproof and dustproof with an IP 67 rating and come in a choice of eight colours with waterproof headsets to match.

New features include the ability to record what's on the mobile screen and add a voice-over to the video. The videos can then be shared over pre-installed apps such as Periscope, Vine and Zello. Users can also shoot photos underwater with the 8-megapixel back camera or 5-megapixel front camera, and the phones come with a 2,500 mAh promising up to 8.3 hours talk time and 55 hours of music playback.

Alcatel also released the Go Watch series, running Android Wear and available in six colours. The watch offers a changeable front case and band and is also IP 67 certified. The Go Watch lets users "hack their emotions". Pressing the 'GO' button on the device triggers an emotion pulse measurement and an emotion graphic will be created based on the input from the gyroscope, heart rate sensor and accelerometer. Users can then select a theme for the watch face that matches their mood and share the emotion pulse on social networks.

The Go phones will be available from this month for a recommended price of EUR 199, and the watch will launch in December for EUR 99.
