Alibaba considering bid for Yahoo - CEO

Chinese e-commerce group Alibaba is strongly considering buying Yahoo, CEI Jack Ma said at the China 2.0 conference at Stanford University, the New York Times reported. Silver Lake Partners, Providence Partners, Andreessen Horowitz and Microsoft have also reportedly reached out to Yahoo's board. Yahoo is in the process of reviewing its strategic options after firing chief executive Carol Bartz, who failed to turn around the company during a rocky two-and-a-half-year tenure. Selling all or part of the company is among some of the options being put on the table. Yahoo declined to comment about Ma's interest in an acquisition. Ma also indicated that he had also talked with partners to join him in a Yahoo acquisition bid, without offering more details.
