Almost 1 bln smartphones shipped last yr, with Andoid on 80%

Almost 1 billion handsets (998 million) shipped last year as the market grew 44 percent from the year before. Android ran on 79 percent (785 million) of the devices shipped, from 68 percent the year earlier. Apple's iOS share fell to 15 percent from 20 percent, despite shipments increasing to 154 million. Microsoft's market rose by 1 percentage point to 3 percent, as shipments increased 90 percent to 32.1 million, putting it ahead of BlackBerry at 19.8 million.
