Almost 1 in 5 Dutch may quit WhatsApp due to change in terms of use - study

Wednesday 17 March 2021 | 12:08 CET | News
Almost one in five (18%) Dutch people say they plan to switch from WhatsApp to another messaging service such as Signal or Telegram, and even stop using WhatsApp altogether, because of the messenger's plans to change its terms of use, according to the latest study from Telecompaper, conducted in February. Under the new conditions announced earlier this year, WhatsApp and Facebook will be able to exchange user data with each other. Most of the new provisions do not apply to users from the European Union, where sharing data between WhatsApp and Facebook is prohibited.
