Almost half Dutch households own tablets

Ninety-five percent of Dutch households have access to the internet via PC, tablet or smartphone. The laptop is already used more than desktop PCs to go online, according to a survey by Dutch statistics office CBS. In total 78 percent of households have a laptop and 69 percent own a desktop, compared to respectively 62 and 83 percent five years ago. Another 45 percent have at least one tablet. In seven out of ten households a smartphone is used for internet access, either over Wi-Fi over the mobile network, a penetration 2.5 times higher than in 2009.
