Almunia says no concerns over E-Plus, O2 deal

EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia told reporters in Vilnius, Lithuania that he has "no concerns" about Telefonica's proposed takeover of German mobile operator E-Plus. "I have some preliminary information, but the proposed merger has not yet been formally notified. We are in preliminary contacts with the parties involved," Almunia said. The EUR 8.55 billion takeover will consolidate Germany's mobile market to three players, merging the third and fourth largest operators.
